rebelling against low expectations

Last Saturday at Moody Church

L

God used an amazing team of young people to pack out The Moody Church last Saturday with over 3,500 teens, parents, and youth workers.

Ethan and Adam — two members of our incredible (and fun) local team.
Go ahead and click on the “and fun” link. Seriously.

Attendees hailed from as far away as Finland, Uzbekistan, Spain, North Africa, and Thailand. The globe-hoppers all received free t-shirts in our “Who-Came-The-Farthest-To-Be-Here” Contest. It was only fair.

The legacy of D.L. Moody was continued in a small way, as over 45 people responded to the Gospel with bold professions of faith in Jesus Christ

Visiting between sessions was fun and crazy as always. It was great getting to meet all of you! Please feel free to stay in touch by email or Facebook.

Without the help of young people like Jaya, Courtney, and JoJo this event would never have happened. Thank you all so much. We loved Chicago
and hope to see you all again soon!

  • Praise God! I was praying for you last Saturday and have continued to pray that God would keep inpacting lives through your message. He is so good, isn’t He?
Thanks, Alex and Brett, for your faithfulness to Christ in this ministry. Know that your labor in Him is not in vain. And thank the rest of your family. I know that they do a lot to keep the Rebelution running!

  • Oh cool! Wow that’s a lot of people!!
It makes me sad I couldn’t go- I haven’t been since you guys came to William Jessup University in Sacramento.

  • It was a great conference. I was glad to be a part of it. Thanks so much for all your hard work guys. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you about graphics.

    God Bless,

  • Thanks so much for the kind words! We loved working with you guys and seeing God do some amazing things this past weekend.

Love all the pictures, especially the one of Joseph. He’s been entertaining me for two years!!!

  • I’m so glad that the conference went well! Next year you should come to Wisconsin! I love your ministry. Thank you so much for all of the insightful blog posts; they are always uplifting and/or convicting. (Just what I need to grow and mature!)

    God Bless,
    Chanel

  • ♥ Sounds cool!!! 🙂
You should come to Tampa or Miami or Orlando, Florida. Who wouldn’t want to come to Fl. for a conference? I know that if I were from up north I would. I’ve lived here my whole life and I’ve never tired of it (except when it gets too cold, then I want to go south for the winter 😉 ).

  • All for Him!

Hey guys this conference was life changing, lets rise above the expectations of this world but live for Him! It was such a privilage to serve at this conference, well if you guys are wondering im that kid who was the… (and fun) link haha thanks twins haha. Well for those who haven’t gone you need to

  • I wanted to go soooooo bad, but we moved to NC a month ago. I have friends that were there though. I’m sure it was an amazing conference.
Can ya’ll come to NC next year? I hope so.

  • I attended the conference in Chicago on Saturday and it was AMAZING!!! I absolutely loved it and am so glad we came. I traveled with friends from Michigan but am from outside Dallas, TX. 🙂 I bought a couple copies of DHT, and I kissed dating goodbye. 🙂 God bless. Thank you to all who helped with the conference.

  • Ha! Loving the link there.
Where’s the DC conference going to be? I’ve heard it’s not going to be at CLC this year, but someplace in VA. Would that be accurate?

  • It was an awesome day; I’m so glad I went. The declarations of faith were by far the highlight, but all of it was great. I was especially impressed by how they put high expectations into practice… from the pre-registration and bookstore, to the really cool technology they let us use, integrity and maturity was expected. It was refreshing!

Oh and by the way, Alex and Brett: You are better speakers than you are rocket launchers. 😛 Seriously, though, it was great to hear you guys in person. It was also nice to see you as two separate people. On the blog or in the book you are basically coming across as one voice, but at the conference I could see your distinct personalities a bit better. That was cool.
    Thanks for coming to Chicago!

  • I didn’t know you went to Moody! I live about a half hour from there! I wish I had been there!

  • The conference was truly inspirational; you guys all did an amazing job. It was a blessing to be able to meet you in person, and I look forward to interacting with you guys about DfaD more in the future! ^_^

  • Wow, thats a lot of people, I wish I could have gone…we are really tight on the money so we couldn’t fly there or pay for the fee…but I am learning lots from your website…thanks!

  • Thank you so much for going to Chicago. I would not have been able to experience ‘The Rebelution Philosophy’ first hand if you had not come! God is using all of you for His glory…so keep up the good work & spread the news. There will be many rebelutionaries before you know it! 🙂

  • Thanx to everyone that attened!!! We enjoyed having so many people come to the Moody Curch and being blessed. I enjoyed being part of this and helping make this possible with the others at The Moody Church!! =D Thanx for coming to chicago and hope to see you again soon <3

  • Amazing
Watching the massive amounts of professions of faith by shouting ‘CHRIST IS LORD” was extremely powerful. This conference was an EPIC success. Keep doing what your doing Harris brothers.

  • wow thats so crazy that someone with my same name was at the conference AND commented on this!

to everyone who viewed this blog post, our team, our youth group and thousands of people at Moody church were praying for each and every one of you not only months in advance but also on the day of the conference.
this day changed my life, seeing God doing amazing things, seeing my prayers become reality and really seeing why I live my life, day in day out for Jesus.

Alex and Brett you both are incredible, and I continue to pray for you guys consistently. let me known anytime you need prayer for anything!

  • Wow!!!! This conference was an amazing blessing. I have had so many people ask me what was best, and I truly do not know. Just a few weeks before the conference I felt God tugging at my heart to share the news about the chicago conference. I live four hours from chicago, and go to a church with about 120 people. So I announced it at church, and a few weeks later there we were at the conference with 16 of our wonderful godly friends from church.
THIS CONFERENCE WAS AMAZING! Some of the highlights were getting to hear how far people traveled. The first over seas country I heard someone say was Spain. From there I was a gonner. My eyes were filled with tears throughout the conference. It was so amazing to see God’s presence during the praise and worship songs. It absolutely stunning to see at least 40 people proclaim “CHRIST IS LORD.” (the first person to stand was only two rows directly behind us. He put his fist in the air and said it so strong and sincere.) And Brett, wow, I hope you don’t mind me saying so but I loved seeing you cry. It was great to see just how powerful God’s word is. Trust me you weren’t the only one. I couldn’t agree with you more when you said at that point like, “There is nothing greater than what has just happened today.” I hope and pray that those 40 some lives will continue to change through Christ, along with the other 3,460 people.
This conference was absolutely amazing. It has definitely changed my life forever not just during my teen years. I AM NOW MORE COMMITED THAN EVER TO DO HARD THINGS FOR THE ONE WHO HAS DONE THE ULTIMATE HARD THING.

If anyone could tell me how I can get in touch with someone who could tell me how I can help with any of the conferences next summer that would be great. I think I could be a help to the ’10 St. Louis conference. (I have experience with raising money- through God when I was nine and ten years old I raised over 1k for the new public library in the town I live in) I would love to volunteer. I’m definitely up for hard things now!!!

    Always in Christ,
    Grace Leigh

  • I went to that conference and let me tell you…It was the best! It was very encouraging and insightful. Brett and Alex did a great job of speaking. Their Dad also came up and spoke for a little bit and he did an awesome job too! Keep up the good work guys!

  • What i don’t understood is in truth how you’re not actually much more neatly-appreciated than you might be right now. You are so intelligent. You understand therefore considerably in terms of this matter, produced me in my view consider it from numerous various angles. Its like women and men aren’t fascinated until it¡¦s something to do with Girl gaga! Your individual stuffs great. All the time handle it up!

  • I really like what you guys are up too. This sort of clever work and coverage! Keep up the excellent works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to blogroll.
