You Are Not Unnoticed

Y

Late one afternoon, two tiny birds perched in dappled sunshine distracted me. I remembered this phrase with a surge of comfort, wonder, and hope:

His eye is on the sparrow.

Often, I know it in my head more than I embrace it with my heart. Most of us grapple with those eighteen inches and although we may drift into a rusty forgetfulness about certain truths, it doesn’t tarnish their authenticity.

Truth remains unchangeable because God never changes.

Truth remains unchangeable because God never changes.

Our feelings may suggest His distance or perhaps indifference, yet in our souls, we can know that our lives are far from unnoticed. Why?

Because He was the first One to watch the cosmos freshly adorned with shimmering star upon star bringing news of His glory in every speech and language. (Psalm 19:1-3; 147:4).

Before the foundations of the earth were established, He was the first to know your name (Psalm 139; Isaiah 46:10).

The first to hear your heartbeat in the womb after he knit DNA and chose your eye color and your voice and just how your smile would be (Psalm 139).

The first to see your tears. The first to know your pain. The first to offer Himself as healing and restoration from sin with His own blood. The first to offer to love you until the end (Rev. 1:5; John 13:1).

He beholds all detail. The end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

If you weren’t convinced before, are you now? Your life is far from unnoticed.

Every detail of your life passes before the holy gaze of a holy God.

Every detail of your life passes before the holy gaze of a holy God.

He notices. He cares for you. He values your life.

This is astounding and remarkable. I don’t want to forget any of this, ever.

“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” -Luke 12:6-7 NKJV
