It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a year since we first let all of you know we were writing a new book — a practical handbook for putting the ideas of Do Hard Things into action. You prayed and supported us. You asked the questions and shared the stories that make up the heart of the book.
We know you’re excited with us to see this resource reach the hands, hearts, and minds of our generation. You helped take that vision a giant step closer to reality when you pushed Start Here to #17 on Amazon.com. Even more than the first, this book is the product of the movement — a true community effort.
Today — March 16th — is the official release of Start Here. Pre-ordered copies should start arriving. More importantly, the book is available in stores across the nation. Even as our second book, that is humbling, mind-blowing, and praise-inspiring!
When Do Hard Things came out, we posted “Five Things You Can Do Now That the Book Is Out” — we share it again as a guide for all of you:
1.) Read the book. We’ve been waiting over a year to share this book with you — and we’re so excited to finally get it in your hands. May it encourage, inspire, and equip you to truly do hard things for the glory of God.
2.) Write a review. We want to hear what you think — good (hopefully) or bad (hopefully not)! Even better, share your review with others on your blog. Or best of all, share your review with prospective readers on websites where the book is sold — like Amazon.
3.) Check your local bookstore. If a bookstore doesn’t carry a particular book, one of the best ways to get them to do so is to… Ask. Visit your favorite local book haunts and check for Start Here. If they don’t have it, tell them about it and encourage them to order some copies.
4.) Check your local library. A single book in a library can reach literally hundreds of people. Visit your library (online or in person) and see if they have any copies of Start Here. If they don’t, you can usually fill out a suggestion form or talk to the librarian about it.
5.) Do hard things! We wrote this book because we know a lot of you want to do hard things for God, but you don’t know where to start. We wanted a book we could hand to any teen who is ready to tackle some hard things — whether it’s a big project, a fundraiser, or struggling to balance everything God has already given you. Read this book, then go out and do hard things!

It sounds like it’s about the exact things I’ve been wondering: as I get ready to go to college, just how do I go about doing hard things and glorifying God in daily life? I’ve got all this passion to do just that and I’m ready to put it somewhere, so now praying about what God wants me to do. I think “Star Here” will help and I can’t wait to start it!

I was so excited, I had my mom get onto her Amazon account to track my package of books so I could see around what time of day it would arrive. Then I found out they’re not even going to be *shipped* till next week :(. So dissapointed. I would think they would at least ship it the day it released, if they can’t even offer release date delivery. Does anyone know if there is a way I can have it shipped sooner without paying extra? I could have ordered it today instead of book bombing it, and gotten it tomorrow, or picked it up from the book store and had it today. Don’t get me wrong- I have no regrets about helping push it to #17, but I’m dissapointed in Amazon for not being able to get it to me sooner.
Brett’s Response: That’s so weird, Tori. If you ordered during the book bomb you should be among the first to receive it. In fact, a lot of book bomb participants are receiving it today.

I just got my book yesterday in the mail! I am just eating it up! If I did not have so much going on I probably would have stayed up all night reading it! I am feeling very inspired, especially in the “small” hard things. I truly believe they are the hardest, and just as important! The way I speak to my family, how hard I work on school, etc. etc.

A few days ago I received “Start Here” in the mail, and I just couldn’t wait. I tore open that package, sat down and didn’t stop reading it. I was finished within 2 hours, and my mind was swarming with new thoughts. Let me start off by saying the book was amazing! I was so excited to get it and I couldn’t stop reading it! T…he one thing I have to say I love the most, is how you guys also draw from personal experiences and share how, even though you are where you are, you struggle with things to. It really helps one realize that even those who are extremely close to Christ, still struggle with certain areas of their life. So thank you so much for blessing me, and so many others with your book(s). Not only have they changed my life, and pulled me back to Christ, but they have opened my eyes and helped me see that just because I’m not perfect, it doesn’t mean God doesn’t love me. So thank you again, for your amazing work!

I finished START HERE today! It was in many ways better than DO HARD THINGS, I like how each book had a different mission, DO HARD THINGS was the why should we do hard things, and START HERE was the how and the while you are, kind of book. Thanks a lot Alex and Brett for writing your God inspired books, and standing for whats right no matter the cost. I have have the do hard things mind set for a while, even before I read your books, books what your books have solidified my mind set doing hard things. And even shorter than an hour after finishing START HERE I was confronted with a very, very, very hard thing for me! MATH, I hate it, and my dad was wanting to do it with me. All I wanted to do was rebel and turn my back on all math, but God gave me the strength to over come it, and do it with a attentive spirit! Thank You Again Alex and Brett! I will be praying for you and all the Rebelutionaries all over the world.
